Under the patronage of Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Placement Cell, University of Jammu in collaboration with the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu organized a Motivational Lecture cum Interaction programme on the topic ‘Decoding Success for Civil Services’ for the students and scholars of the University at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium. Sh. Suchiter Sharma (IRS), son of the soil who has secured All India Rank 146 in UPSC-2020 was the Resource Person and was felicitated by the Chief Guest, Prof. Anju Bhasin, Former Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu on the occasion.

In her address, Prof. Anju Bhasin lauded the meaningful effort of Dean Placement and Dean Students Welfare in envisaging this highly relevant event for the benefit of the students who are always kept at the pivotal position by the University. She asserted that the University of Jammu always endeavours to provide an academically fertile ambience to the students so that they can give wings to their productive thoughts. Complementing them as the ambassadors of the University, she suggested them to be driven by their own desire in the pursuit of success.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Prof. Vinay Chauhan informed that as the mandate of the Placement Cell and the Department of Students Welfare is the benefit and welfare of the students, this event has been organized in active collaboration of the both and in future, more such programmes would be conducted for the benefit of the stakeholders of the University. He urged the students to take maximum benefit from this motivational lecture as such enlightenments go a long way in shaping one's mindset.

Sh. Suchiter Sharma, the Resource Person of the event conducted an interesting, engrossing and enlightening session which was thoroughly appreciated by the house-full gathering at the auditorium, most of them being the aspirants of UPSC and other competitions. Citing different self-created examples, which were easy to grasp, he created an ambience full of motivation and positivity. Terming consistency, persistence and perseverance the key elements, his lecture which was a blend of wisdom and practicality proved to be an inspirational session. Moreover, the use of colloquial sentences to make the speech interesting made the audience connected and charged up. He narrated the story of his hard work and attributed his success to the efforts of his parents, teachers and friends. He also advised the listeners to not follow his story, rather create their own stories. The lecture was followed by an interaction session in which he intelligently answered the queries of the aspirants.

The event was organized under the guidance of Prof. Prakash Antahal (Dean Students Welfare), Prof. Vinay Chauhan (Dean Students Placement), Prof. Vishav Raksha (Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Prof. Sanjana Kaul (Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee) and Dr. Anil Gupta (Associate Dean SW) and was coordinated by Dr. Garima Gupta and Dr. Pritam Singh, Dr. Amisha Gupta, Dr. Shubhnandan Singh Jamwal, Dr. Suvidha Khanna, and Dr. Aubid Hussain Parrey.

Vote of Thanks was presented by Dr. Anil Gupta and Dr. Shelleka Gupta ably conducted the event whereas the Hall Management was looked after by Ms. Shilpa Chaku, Ms. Mansi Mantoo, Sumeet Sharma, Virender Bhatia, Kulbhushan Thakur and Arif Paul.
