An Alumni and NSS Volunteer Ms Srishti Koul from the University of Jammu was awarded the prestigious NSS National Award. The award was conferred by the Hon'ble President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu on 24th September 2022, a day celebrated as NSS Day. Prof Umesh Rai, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu congratulated Ms Srishti Koul for her outstanding achievement which has brought laurels to the J&K UT in general and the University of Jammu in particular. Recognition for this honour to Ms. SrishtiKoul is due to her persistent and selfless work and it shall definitely motivate other volunteers that if they work tirelessly and selflessly they can also get recognized at the highest level, said Vice-Chancellor. Prof Rai contemplated that once the student gets associated with NSS; it gives him a sense of belonging and inspires him to give back to society.

Ms Koul , NSS Volunteer secured First Rank in All Over India Merit for the NSS Award. After going through a series of evaluations and scrutiny at various stages right from the University Level to National Level, he has been selected by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt of India for this award. Ms. Srishti Koul, a dedicated NSS Volunteer from University of Jammu, Jammu, participated in the various events organized from time to time. Ms. SrishtiKoul has qualified M.Sc. in Chemistry from the Department of Chemistry, University of Jammu in 2021. Presently she is working in a Multi-National Company in Delhi. She was awarded with V.C.Certificate for 120 hours of NSS work in addition to the regular programme in  2019-2020  by NSS, University of Jammu. She was awarded the Overall Trophy for Best Student on 27th September 2019 in ‘Rang Trang-Display Your Talent-2019’ organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu. She participated in E-Poster making competition held on 21st May 2020 on Anti–Terrorism Day organized by NSS Campus Units University of Jammu, Jammu. She also participated in Literacy Campaign,  Mass awareness programmes about  Health Service  & Awareness in slums areas, special emphasis on Girl child and her education, motivated parents to send children to school, gender sensitization, HIV/AIDS Awareness Programme, Cleanliness Drives, Monsoon Plantation Drive on Event of Van Mahotsav and world environment day and blood donation. It is pertinent to mention here that she created awareness about precautionary measures to be taken during the Covid 19 pandemic through e-posters, E-Slogans, short videos and also pasted posters in various areas to create awareness among the public, distributed food, mask sanitisers from March and April 2020 organized by NSS, Campus Units, University of Jammu. Furthermore, she acted as a technical expert for various online events organized by Unit -2, Science Faculty, NSS Campus Units, University of Jammu during the Covid-19 pandemic period. She participated in IIC Online sessions from 28th April to 22nd May 2020 organized by the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India has established ‘MHRD’s Innovation Cell (MIC)’. Ms Koul participated in NSS Day on 24th Sept 2019 organized by NSS Programme Coordinator, University of Jammu, in collaboration NSS Campus Units University of Jammu, Jammu. Participated in 10-day Pre-Republic Day Camp held at Chitkara University,  Rajpura ,(Punjab) from 15th Nov 2019  to 24th Nov 2019   organized by the NSS Regional Directorate, Ministry of Youth Affairs Sports, Govt. of India. Participated in Communal Harmony & National Integration Campaign Week and Flag Day on 25th Nov 2019 organized by NSS Campus Units in collaboration with the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu. Participated in 7-day National Integration Camp organized by NSS Regional Directorate, New Delhi and NSS Programme Coordinator, University of Jammu, Jammu sponsored by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports NSS Regional Directorate, New Delhi held from 22nd to 28th Feb 2020. Participated in one month Republic Day Camp at New Delhi from 1st Jan 2020 to 31st Jan 2020 organized by the NSS Regional Directorate, Ministry of Youth Affairs Sports, Govt. of India.

Among others, Dr, Anju Thappa, Programme Coordinator, NSS, Dr Vinay Thusoo, Incharge Media and programme officers Dr Isha Sharma, Dr Harjinder Singh and Dr Neelam Choudhary, were also present on the occasion.
