NSS Unit-VI at Kathua Campus of the University of Jammu organized a plantation drive in collaboration with the Forest Department of the Government of JKUT as part of the country-wide ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’ celebrations under the theme of year 2022 #OnlyOneEarth, to highlight the safeguarding of the planet's natural resources and their critical importance. The drive was kickstarted by the first sapling planted by Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Rector Kathua Campus. The plantation drive was attended by all the faculty members, non-teaching staff and NSS volunteers of both the Kathua Campus and University Institute of Engineering and Technology. More than 100 Tree saplings were planted by NSS volunteers, faculty members, and non-teaching staff under the aegis of the ‘Green India Clean India’ campaign. Mr. Amit Sharma, NSS Programme Officer, Kathua Campus highlighted the support and dedication of the Rector Kathua Campus, Dr. Meenakshi Kilam to make the campus eco-friendly. On this occasion, Mr . Amit Sharma giving the rationale of the drive said, “We are committed to make Kathua Campus enriched with biodiversity. Mr Pankaj Khajuria, Assistant Registrar Kathua Campus emphsised the need to plant trees to purify the campus atmosphere and inculcate the sense of the importance of different species of plants in maintaining our healthy lifestyle. Among others the various faculty members from MCA, MBA ,UIET are Dr. Sourabh Shastri,HoD , MCA, Dr. Sunny Sharma, Mr. Pranav Ratta, Ms Ritika Goyal, Dr Mahesh Koul, Ms Anjally Gupta, Ms Thirika Nath, Ms. Kamakshi, Mr. Gourav, Dr. Zahin Ansaari, Er Sarvdhaman.
