Two-Day Experiential Workshop on GST and its Corporate Applications at ICccR & HRM, JU

International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR & HRM), University of Jammu organised Two-Day Experiential Workshop on GST and its Corporate Applications with an aim to enhance the skill and employability for the students of MBA (International Business), University of Jammu. The underlying objective of the workshop was to acquaint students with the corporate ready skills pertaining to GST and its applications like GST filling, assessment and implications for corporate houses. The resource person for the two-day workshop was Mr. Vineet Kohli, Chartered Accountant and Senior Partner, Kohli Associates, Jammu.  

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Vineet Kohli addressed the attendees on the basic framework of GST by elucidating upon GST as a single, multi stage, comprehensive and destination-based tax as it has subsumed almost all the indirect taxes except a few state taxes which include central excise duty, services tax, additional customs duty, surcharges, state-level value added tax and Octroi, which further enabled students to understand the GST framework and its application across different industry verticals. He further practically conducted hands-on practice sessions for the students to make them learn about the GST filling process, GST Returns, GST Supply, Input Tax Credit, GST Registration and handling GST filling across different industry setups.

Professor Neetu Andotra, Director, ICccR & HRM and Dean Business Studies, University of Jammu, expressed satisfaction and contentment with the overall structure of workshop that was inclusive of the practical exposure to the students in terms of GST filling and assessment. She further stressed upon the need for skilling students with such like corporate centric interventions that enable them to place themselves in suitable industry verticals. She further assured that organising such like skill-based workshops in more extensive formats will be pursued at the department that will increase corporate readiness amongst the students.

It is pertinent to mention that the workshop was preceded by formal student-teacher interaction wherein the students of MBA (IB) Semester I interacted with their seniors and respective faculty members.
