University of Jammu Concludes One-Week FDP on Computer-Interfaced Physics Experiments (CIPEx2026) in Alignment with NEP 2020

Jammu, Feb 20: The Department of Physics, University of Jammu, in collaboration with the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, University of Jammu, successfully concluded the One-Week FacultyDevelopment Programme (FDP) on “Computer-Interfaced Physics Experiments (CIPEx2026)” held from 16–20 February 2026, with a valedictory function organized in the Department. The FDP was conceived in alignment with the objectives of NEP 2020, which emphasizes experiential learning,multidisciplinary integration, skill enhancement, and the effective use of technology in higher education. By promoting computer-interfaced experiments and digital laboratory technologies, the programme contributed meaningfully toward transforming traditional laboratory practices into inquiry-driven, low cost device SEELAB3.0 which has been developed indigenously and is much suited for innovation-oriented learning environments envisioned under NEP 2020.

Prof. Meena Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Science,University of Jammu, graced the occasion as theChief Guest. In her address, she appreciated the initiative of the Department and emphasized the growing importance of computer-based learning, academic innovation, and the effective integration of modern technology into teaching and research. She congratulated the organizers for conducting a relevant and forward-looking academic programme.

Earlier, the Head of the Department and Convener of the FDPProf. K.K. Bamzaiformally welcomed the Chief Guest and gathering. He presented an overview of the five days event that was attended by the Physics and Electronics faculty from various colleges and universities of the J&K and Ladakh UT.

Prof. Ramni Gupta,Coordinator of the FDP, presented a detailed report highlighting the objectives, outcomes and the diverse experiments covered during the programme, noting that the expert lectures, interactive discussions, and hands-on sessions significantly enriched the participants' academic perspectives. Distinguished resource persons that delivered the expert lectures and conducted the Hands-on sessions during the FDP included Prof. O. S. K. S. Sastri from

Central University of Himachal Pardesh, Dr. Jithin Bhagavathi of CSpark Research, Sh. V. V. V.Satyanarayana from IUAC, New Delhi, and faculty from the University of jammu.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks byDr. Narinder Kumar,co-coordinator, who acknowledged the contributions of all stakeholders.
