University of Jammu organizes plantation drive

Jammu, August 13: Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), University of Jammu organized a plantation drive to promote environmental awareness among students and staff.

 

The Plantation drive was jointly inaugurated by Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Registrar, University of Jammu, Director, CDC Prof. Rajeev Rattan and Prof. J.P. Singh Jooral, Head, Department of  Statistics by planting three different citrus saplings and encouraging the NSS volunteers to rekindle bond with the nature for better tomorrow. 

 

Prof. Pankaj K. Srivastava, Director CDOE, welcomed the guests and NSS volunteers.

The Director lauded the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s inspiring call for “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” encouraging everyone to plant at least one tree in dedication to their mother or a maternal figure, thereby fostering a deeper emotional connection to environmental conservation.

 

The Director also acknowledged the commendable efforts of the University of Jammu’s Arboriculture team, especially the Convenor Prof. Payush Malaviya and Arboriculturist  Mr. Ajmer Singh on the occasion and expressed the gratitude for their continuous support in maintaining the campus environment.

 

On the occasion Prof.Sandeep Kour Tandon, Prof. Anupama Vohra, Prof. Anju Sharma, Dr. Hina  S. Abrol, Dr. Neelam Choudhary, Dr. Anuradha Goswami, Dr. Parshotam Paul Singh, Dr. Sumita Sharma, Officers and Staff also planted saplings in the Citrus Vatika.

NSS volunteers Ruby Gandotra, Ananya Gupta, Shikhar Sharma, Ashima, Mehak Kakapuri, Irfan Rather, Ranjit Singh, and Ekjot Singh provide logistic support and enthusiastically planted saplings.

 

The plantation drive was organised by Dr. Rajber Singh Sodhi, Program Officer of NSS Unit V, who also thanked all for their gracious presence.
