Department of Library and Information Science,  University of Jammu, conducts an Expert Lecture on "Information as a Profession"

 Department of Library and Information Science organised an expert lecture on the topic "Information as a Profession". The distinguished academician Professor M. P. Satija, Emeritus Fellow and Honorary Professor, DLIS, Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar, was the expert speaker. Prof Sangita Gupta, Head of the Department welcomed and thanked Prof Satija for  his visit to the department.Professor Satija shared his deep insights on the evolution, relevance, and future prospects of information science as a professional domain in the 21st century.

Professor Satija, in his engaging and scholarly lecture, discussed the transformation of information services in the digital age and the ethical dimensions of information work. He further underscored the need for LIS education to evolve with emerging technological advancements and societal needs. The lecture provided valuable insights on the topic and was highly informative and engaging. The lecture concluded with an interactive Q&A session.

The lecture was attended by faculty members (Dr. Bindu Sharma, Dr. Meghna Dhar, Dr. Reenu Arti Thakur), Scholars and Students.
