The Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu, successfully organized a one-day workshop on curriculum development for communication skills and personality development. The workshop, convened by Dr. Priyanka Sharma, focused on designing a specialized course aimed at empowering the wives of army jawans with essential soft skills and life skills.
Explaining the objective of the workshop, Dr. Sharma emphasized that the initiative seeks to enhance the confidence, communication abilities, and overall personality of army wives, equipping them with skills that support personal growth and career opportunities.
A panel of experts contributed to the curriculum development discussions, including Prof. Garima (Head, Department of Journalism and Mass Media), Dr. Shubhra Jamwal (Lecturer, Department of English, Govt. College of Education, Jammu), and Ms. Neetu Dhar (Corporate Trainer). Dr. Priyanka Sharma and Dr. Pallavi Sachdeva, both psychologists, brought their extensive experience in communication and personality development, facilitating in-depth discussions on curriculum design tailored to the needs of army families.
The proposed curriculum encompasses effective communication, public speaking, leadership skills, self-confidence building, professional etiquette, financial literacy, and essential AI skills, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.
"The role of army wives is crucial in managing families and contributing to society. Equipping them with strong communication and personality development skills will open new avenues for personal and professional growth," the experts noted.
The workshop featured engaging discussions, with a strong emphasis on experiential learning and hands-on activities as key components of the curriculum. The deliberations marked a significant step toward empowering army families and enhancing self-reliance, confidence, and professional readiness among army wives.
