Two-Day Seminar on Advances in Sericulture Technology Commanced at Poonch Campus here today. The workshop is being organised by the PG Department of Sericulture Poonch Campus, University of Jammu on "Recent Trends and Advances in Pre-Cocoon and Post-Cocoon Technology in Sericulture". The seminar aims to provide a platform for researchers, academicians and students to discuss recent advancements and innovations in sericulture practices.

 The seminar was inaugurated by Prof. Rakesh Vaid, Director, Poonch Campus through virtual mode. In his inaugural message, Prof. Vaid highlighted the importance of pre-cocoon and post-cocoon technologies in revolutionizing the sericulture industry and emphasized the seminar's role in equipping students and researchers with contemporary knowledge and skills. He also commended the efforts of the PG Department of Sericulture for organizing such an impactful event that fosters learning and collaboration.

 Dr. N. S. Gehlot Scientist-D, CSTRI, Miran Sahib, Jammu was the chief guest for the occasion. Delivering a detailed address on the topic, Dr. Gehlot explained the latest innovations in Post Cocoon sericulture and their application to enhance productivity and sustainability. He also shared insights into the role of modern technologies in improving both pre-cocoon and post-cocoon processes, thus ensuring higher economic benefits for farmers and stakeholders. Dr. Arti Sharma, Assistant Professor, SKC-GDC, Poonch, also addressed the gathering. She spoke about the integration of traditional practices with advanced scientific methods to achieve better outcomes in sericulture and highlighted the importance of skill development for students in the field. Earlier, Dr. Rubia Bukhari, Incharge, PG Department of Sericulture, welcomed the participants and provided an overview of the seminar. She outlined the objectives and scope of the two-day workshop, which is focused on empowering students and researchers with the latest trends and technologies in sericulture. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Palvi Sharma Lecturer, PG Department of Sericulture, Poonch Campus. She expressed gratitude to the eminent speakers, participants and organizers for their contributions to the success of the seminar. The first day of the workshop witnessed the active participation of students from the Department of Sericulture, along with teaching and non-teaching staff of the campus.
