Education and mentoring young minds start at various levels (institutional and informal). The professional and journey of life becomes smoother and effective with effective mentoring and guidance. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu Prof. Umesh Rai’s strong beliefs to mentor and reach the youth to shape them to able citizens is the guiding for DLL to undertake such activities. Employment Information Cum Advisory Bureau (EIAB), Department of Lifelong Learning (DLL) today organised a career counselling programme for the students of class 11th and 12th in the premises of Govt. Higher Secondary School, Bazar Qasaban, Jammu.
Dr. Priyanka Sharma, Director, DLL while inaugurating the programme highlighted the needs and objectives of such programmes. She also elaborated the value added programme being offered under the aegis of DLL. She said that DLL has dedicated unit of EIAB, catering to career counselling and allied activities.
Prof. Ramni Gupta, Department of Physics, JU and Ms. Neetu Dhar, Coorporate Trainer were the resource persons. Dr. Rewa Khajuria, Counsellor, EIAB, DLL coordinated the programme.
Prof. Ramni informed the students about the career prospects in Science stream and further study options after completing schooling. She further said that the students can choose them on their interests and career goals. Ms. Neetu Dhar in her presentation explained the importance of good communication skills. She also apprised that communication skills can help them to express themselves, choose career wisely and build good relationships.
Mrs. Kamlesh Bhagat, principal of the school spoke about the guidance which are being provided to the students at this time and advised them to work hard as their exams are approaching.
About 49 students of the school while giving feedback appreciated the programme. They were very much interested in knowing the options available for them. Ms. Neeru Sadotra conducted the programme. The teachers of the school including Ms. Meenakshi Kak, Aneet Kour also attended the programme.
