Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu today organised One day workshop on “Basic Communication Skills” in the premise of Balgran, Channi Rama, Jammu. The workshop was conducted as per the vision of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu Prof. Umesh Rai to bring the student out of the class and impart project based learning.
The workshop was jointly inaugurated by Prof. Jeevan Jyoti, Incharge Director, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu and Ms. Urmil Arora, Principal and Ms. Sadhna Kachroo, Vice-Principle of Bal Bharti Public School. In her inaugural speech, Prof. Jeevan Jyoti appraised the students about the importance of Communication Skills. The main objective of the workshop was to enable the students to learn basic skills of communication so that they can communicate with precision and clarity. The main themes of the workshop were formal and informal communication Skills and conversation starters etc.
The special resource person of the workshop was Ms. Neetu Dhar, Chief Coordinator and Master Trainer JKDCUL (Jammu Kashmir Dairy Producers Processors and Marketing Cooperative Ltd), Jammu. She detailed the students about components of formal and informal communication skills. She also involved the students through various activities for enhancing their communication skills. Evaluation of the students was also done in the end by the resource person.
The workshop was co-ordinated by Dr. Rewa Khajuria, Counsellor, Department of Lifelong Learning. About 36 Students of Balgran very enthusiastically participated in the workshop. Among others presented were Ms. Asha Sharma, warden and Mr. Goverdan Singh, teacher of the School.
