UGC Refresher course in Environmental Sciences concludes at University of Jammu

A two-week refresher course (RC) in Environmental Sciences (Interdisciplinary) culminates at the University of Jammu, Jammu. In the beginning, Prof. Piyush Malaviya, Head, Department of Environmental Sciences and Course Coordinator of the Refresher Course welcomed the participants and dignitaries present in the valedictory session of the refresher course. Prof. Malaviya also presented an overall report on the activities conducted in the refresher course. He informed that the 2 weeks RC was started on the 8th of January and the sessions were spread over 12 working days. The RC was attended by 47 Assistant Professors from various institutions of UT of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Manipur and West Bengal. Overall, 38 sessions of invited talks from eminent resource persons were conducted during the refresher course besides 17 sessions of participant's presentations and assessment. The internationally acclaimed resource persons affiliated with premier institutions of India and abroad delivered their talks on diverse and interdisciplinary aspects of environmental science. In the feedback session, various participants shared their experiences and appreciation for the smooth and meticulous conduct of the refresher course. Prof. S.K. Pandita, Director of UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), University of Jammu and Chief Guest of the occasion in his address emphasized the importance of such courses in knowledge upgradation and dissemination. Prof. Pandita congratulated the participants for successfully completing the refresher course and advised them to integrate the learnings received from the Refresher Course into their course curriculum and teachings and also to make the students aware of the latest developments in the field of Environmental Sciences.
