Art of Living session organised at JU

The Department of Sociology, University of Jammu organised a session on “Mind Matters” in collaboration with Art of Living. The resource person was Mr. Rohit Ranjan, teacher with Art of Living. Dr. Hema Gandotra, Head in charge, Department of Sociology formally welcomed the resource person and his team. In her welcome address she introduced the resource person to the audience and highlighted the role of such sessions in shaping the personality of students and scholars. She stated that the department has been able to organize such activities under the able guidance of Prof. Vishav Raksha, Head, Department of Sociology.Mr. Ranjan shared his experience of mindfulness that he learnt in his journey in the Art of Living. He inspired in students and scholars the values of compassion, empathy, kindness and calmness through the right form of meditation. During the session a small meditative practice to develop and understand the power of breathing was conducted under his instructions. The aim of the entire session was to promote both mental and physical well-being and a positive attitude towards life. Ms Kajal Kalsi, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, offered the vote of thanks and pressed the importance of such sessions in contributing to a stress-free environment.Students and scholars joined the session in large numbers and enthusiastically shared their experiences at the end of the session. Other faculty members of the department including Dr Sapna Sharma, Ms Diksha Nargotra and Dr Gopal Sharma were also present during the session.
