The Department of Psychology, University of Jammu organized a lecture cum interactive session on “Communication, Psychology and Literature”. Prof. Anupama Vohra, Faculty, Directorate of Distance Education, University of Jammu was the resource person. Prof Jasbir Singh, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Head, Department of Psychology started the session with an interaction with the participants. He formally welcomed the resource person and invited her for an interaction.

The resource person began the session by explaining the importance of communication with a focus on verbal, non-verbal, and written communication. She elaborated on the development of the English language in the pre and post-independence eras in India. She gave real-life examples of the importance of using the English language in communication. Through an activity, Prof Vohra made the session more participative and interactive. She emphasized that the young participants must inculcate the habit of reading. She stated that communication reflects our personality. Further, the resource person focused on the relationship between psychology and literature. She mentioned that the boundary between English and psychology has merged. Giving examples of great psychologists, Prof. Vohra said that Psychologists get ideas for their work from literature. Similarly, the literature is replete with ideas generated from psychological theories.

More than 30 Research Scholars and Students of the Department of Psychology were present. Ms Amandeep Kour Nanda coordinated the session. Dr. Pallvi Sachdeva, Dr. Sarita Sood, Dr. Karuna Gupta, and Dr. Dharvinder Singh Jasrotia were also present.
