Centre for Study of Social Exclusion & Inclusive Policy (CSSEIP) in collaboration with Department of Philosophy and Shiksha Sanskruti Uthaan Nyas, Jammu Kashmir Ladakh prant organised online lecture on the topic ‘Scientific Orientation in Indian Philosophy: An Inclusive Approach’.
Dr.Ayush Gupta, Department of Sanskrit, Tilaka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, Bhagalpur Bihar was the main speaker. In his lecture he focused on the scientific orientation of Indian philosophy that shows how the two very different approaches from East and West can illuminate each other. It is not an introduction to the philosophy of science, but rather an invitation to look at philosophy of science in a new way, using the approaches of classical Indian logic, in particular Navya Nyāya. In education he narrated the categorization of valid source of knowledge. Advaita is often translated as “non-dualism” though it literally means “oneness” Although Śaṅkara is regarded as the promoter of Advaita Vedānta as a distinct school of Indian philosophy, the origins of this school predate Śaṅkara. The existence of an Advaita tradition is acknowledged by Śaṅkara in his commentaries. The classical Advaita philosophy of Śaṅkara recognizes a unity in multiplicity, identity between individual and pure consciousness, and the experienced world as having no existence apart from Brahman. The major metaphysical concepts in Advaita Vedānta tradition, such as māyā, mithya (error in judgment),vivarta (illusion/whirlpool), have been subjected to a variety of interpretations. On some interpretations, Advaita Vedānta appears as a nihilistic philosophy that denounces the matters of the lived-world. He further assured that NEP-2020 with his interdisciplinary approach can be the universal acknowledgement of different ideologies. Inclusive approach among different disciplines can become universal language for all. Inclusion is a belief that all students, regardless of labels, should be members of the general education community. The philosophy of inclusion encourages the elimination of the dual special and general education systems, and the creation of a merged system that is responsive to the needs of all students.
Prof. Jasbir Singh in his address encouraged the CSSEIP centre and department of Philosophy to conduct interdisciplinary activities.
