Bhaderwah Campus to sign (MoU) with IIT Roorkee
Department of Computer Science and IT, Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology–Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) inaugurated weeklong faculty development programme on REAL WORLD SCIENTIFIC AND NUMERIC COMPUTING USING DEEP LEARNING WITH PYTHON.
The workshop was inaugurated by Col Rajat Parmar, Commanding Officer 4RR, Chief guest of this FDP, in the presence of Patron of this Seminar Rector Bhaderwah Campus Prof. Rahul Gupta, Guest of Honor, Dr. Manish Anand,CEO and Board Member of iHUBDivyasampark, IIT Roorkee, Special Guest, Dr. Karan Nathwani, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Electrical Engineering, IIT Jammu.
The co-convenor, Dr. Jatinder Manhas, Head of Computer Science and IT, Organizing secretary,Dr. Abid Sarwar, various faculty members, scholars of Bhaderwah Campus, and computer experts from different universities of the state also graced the event with their presence.
The workshop commenced with the conventional lighting of the camp. In his address Col Rajat Parmar, pointed out the lack of awareness among the public about the latest technologies which are used in the real world for solving scientific and numeric problems. Adding to this he further said that this one-week faculty development program (FDP) on REAL WORLD SCIENTIFIC AND NUMERIC COMPUTING with a special focus on Python from Nov 7 to 11, 2022 will help to overcome those problems.
Rector Bhaderwah Campus Prof. Rahul Gupta who addressed the gathering through online mode congratulated the Dr Jatinder Manhas Co-convenor for organising such event. He said that Bhaderwah Campus will organise such workshops in future also. “Such events are also fruitful for the society as well as students,’ he added
Dr. Manish Anand while speaking in the occasion said that Python is a a general-purpose programming language that is becoming more and more popular for doing data science."Companies worldwide are using Python to harvest insights from their data and get a competitive edge. It is a great experience to work with the department of computer sciences Bhaderwah campus and this workshop will further strengthen the relations between IIT Roorkee and Bhaderwah Campus," he added
Bhaderwah Campus and Indian Institute of Technology–Roorkee (IIT Roorkee will also sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) under which the students of the Bhaderwah campus will be trained at IIT, Roorkee on regular basis.
The co-convenor, Dr. Jatinder Manhas, Head of the department also addressed the inaugural and formally welcomed the esteemed guests. While addressing the audience he said, "The workshop on FDP will discuss issues relating to artificial intelligence, deep learning, and image analytics with particular emphasis on the emerging research paradigms in data science concerning its applications in various fields”.Toward the end of the event, Dr. Abid Sarwar, Assistant professor and the Organizing secretary of the programme presented a vote of thanks to the speakers, faculty, and the esteemed chief] guest.He exclaimed that Teacher’s learning is a continuous process that promotes teachers’ teaching skills, master new knowledge, and develops new proficiency, which in turn, helps improve students’ learning. He further said that only consistent and dedicated efforts can improve a teacher’s academic standards.
More than 60 participants (academic and research scholars)from different universities of the state and outside the state are
attending this workshop. This workshop aims to make aware budding computer experts about real-world scientific and computing problems and to solve them by using deep learning.Prof. Mansaf Alam, Professor, Dept. of Computer Science, Jamia Milia Islamia,Dr. Yamuna Prasad, Assistant Professor,Dept. of Comp. Karan Nathwani, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Electrical Engineering, IIT Jammu will deliver the lectures in the field of Data Science and Machine Learning.The rector Bhaderwah campus and patron of the workshop, Prof. Rahul Gupta also congratulated the department of computer science and IT, Bhaderwah Campus, and the Indian Institute of Technology –Roorkee (IITRoorkee) for organizing the workshop on the latest technology.
