Kathua Campus, University of Jammu in collaboration with Google Developer Group, Jammu organized Google IO Extended 2022 i.e. a hands-on learning programme with Google experts for the students to give them exposure and practical knowledge pertaining to the latest development in Google technology. The students of Computer Science from Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Kathua, Government Degree College Kathua, Government Degree College for Women, Kathua, Government Degree College, Hiranagar, and Government Degree College, Samba were the participants during the programme.
In the programme, highly technical and in-depth sessions that were aimed on Web, Cloud, IoT, Android, Chrome, and AI were conducted by the expert speakers. Google Developer Group, Jammu is headed by Mr. Abhinandan Trilokia who is also an Android Engineer. Mr. Trilokia discussed at length regarding Google IO and also on the recent advancements in Android 13. Ms. Nikita Gandhi, Google Community Manager talked on Role of Communities and Flutter while Mr. Vrijraj Singh, Tech Lead, GDG Jalandhar discussed in detail about Deep drive in the world of Web and Firebase. Ms. Sanjana Chakravarty, Google SWE Intern talked on the topic Women in Tech, History of Women in CS whereas Mr. Anubhav Singh, Co-founder Dynopii Inc highlighted the concepts of Audio AI: What, Why and How. There was also a QA session where students cleared their doubts from the expert speakers. Mr. Jatin Sharma, Cloud Developer (GCP) and Mr. Vanshu Mehra, Creative Team Google coordinated the whole event.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Rector, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu. Dr. Kilam while emphasizing upon the importance of such programmes, stated that the technology has transformed the education sector and the NEP-2020 is also focusing to strengthen the academia-industry collaboration. She encouraged the students to learn and experiment with the latest technologies and also assured of regular hosting of such industry-related events at Kathua Campus to provide an additional edge to the students.
Earlier, Mr. Sourabh Shastri, Organizing Secretary of the programme and Incharge Head, Computer Science presented the welcome address and introduced the resource persons during the programme. He concluded that more progressive efforts shall be put in future so that students get benefited from the competencies of such professionals.
Mr. Amit Sharma, Mr. Pankaj Khajuria, Dr. Sunny Sharma, Mr. Pranav Ratta, Ms. Anjally Gupta, Mr. Gaurav Sharma, Ms. Avni Sharma, Dr. Zahin Ansari, Dr. Mahesh Koul, Ms. Thiharika Nath, Ms. Kamakshi and Mr. Saravdaman from the Campus and Ms. Surbhi Gupta and Mr. Ashok Sharma from GDC, Kathua were also present during the programme.
