Five-Day Capacity Building Programme on “Philosophy of Well-being: Integrating Yoga, Mindfulness, and Emotional Intelligence in Academic Workplace” concludes at University of Jammu

Department of Philosophy, University of Jammu, in collaboration with Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), organized a Five-Day Capacity Building Programme on “Philosophy of Well-being: Integrating Yoga, Mindfulness, and Emotional Intelligence in Academic Workplace” from 10th to 14th February, 2026. The programme was designed for teachers, administrative staff, and non-teaching employees to enhance professional capacities by integrating Yoga, Mindfulness, and Emotional Intelligence into academic workspaces, with special focus on stress management and holistic development rooted in Indian philosophical traditions. The programme was attended by fifty participants including principals, faculty,officers, and non-teaching staff from various institutions across Jammu Division

The programme concluded with a practical session conducted by Mr. Ritwik Mahajan from Art of Living, Jammu, focusing on breathing and relaxation techniques on 14th February,2026.   Prof. Jasbir Singh, HoD, Philosophy, University of Jammu presented the vote of thanks.

Earlier, the programme was inaugurated by Prof. Satish Kumar Kapoor, Director, Central Sanskrit University (Ranbir Campus), Jammu. And Prof. Suman Jamwal, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Jammu, presided over the inaugural session and spoke on the concept of well-being in Indian tradition, with reference to the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.The resource persons for the five days sessions were Prof. Priyanka Sharma, Director, Department of Lifelong Learning who spoke on healthy psychological boundaries at the workplace; Dr. Madhu Mangal Chaturvedi from SMVDU delivered a lecture on Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra; Prof. Pankaj Shrivastava from Panjab University conducted sessions  on Mindfulness, Attention and Academic Efficiency;Dr. Devesh Kumar from the Yoga Centre conducted practical sessions on asanas, pranayama, and relaxation techniques. Prof. Shivani Sharma from Panjab University interacted on theRelevance of Indian Knowledge Systems in promoting well-being and free thinking; Prof. Anupama Vohra fromCDOE spoke onEmotional Intelligence in Communication andMentorshipand also conducted a practical sessionon empathy and conflict management.Dr. Amitash Ojha from IIT, Jammu elaborated on the role of emotions in cognition and behaviour; Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh from Central University of Jammu enlightened the participantson emotional stability within Indian Knowledge Systems and Dr. Vikas Singh fromCentral University of Jammu conducted a session on the Buddhist foundations of mindfulness and guided participants through meditation practices;Prof. Bijoy Boruah from IIT, Jammu delivered a lecture on mind–body balance.The programme was coordinated by Dr. Vijay Laxmi Rai,Dr. Panu Sharma, Dr. Ajai Kumar Mishra, Dr. Ruby Bharti, Ms. Shalini Gupta,Ravinder Kour, Shweta Sharma, Anil Kumarand the logistical support was extended by the student volunteers from the Department of Philosophy.
