Academic seminar at IMFA, JU begins with scholarly deliberations

Jammu, February 12: The Institute of Music and Fine Arts (IMFA), University of Jammu, commenced its academic seminar today with enthusiastic participation from scholars, faculty members, and students, fostering meaningful academic dialogue and intellectual exchange in the fields of music, dance, and fine arts.
Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Registrar, University of Jammu, graced the inaugural session as the Chief Guest, while Prof. Suman Jamwal, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Head, Department of History, University of Jammu, attended as the Guest of Honour.
In his address, Dr. Neeraj Sharma appreciated the Institute for organizing such academic initiatives that contribute to strengthening research culture and promoting interdisciplinary engagement in the fine and performing arts.
Prof. Suman Jamwal also lauded the efforts of the Institute in creating a vibrant academic environment and emphasized the importance of scholarly dialogue in preserving artistic traditions.
The keynote address was delivered by eminent scholar Prof. Pankaj Mala Sharma, whose insightful and thought-provoking presentation established a strong academic foundation for the seminar. Her address offered valuable perspectives and set the tone for the technical deliberations and research presentations.
Earlier, the Principal, Institute of Music and Fine Arts, in his welcome address, highlighted the significance of academic discourse and interdisciplinary research in enriching the understanding and practice of fine and performing arts.
The inaugural session was attended by distinguished experts including Prof. Parveen Uddhav from Banaras Hindu University, Dr. Advesh Pratap Singh Tomer from Madhya Pradesh, and Dr. Amit Gangani from Chandigarh, whose presence greatly enriched the academic proceedings. The first session was conducted by Rajkumar Behrupia, who ensured the smooth and effective conduct of the programme.
The seminar continued with the second technical session, featuring research paper presentations by noted academicians and scholars. Dr. Amit Gangani, Prof. Parveen Uddhav, Dr. Lalit Gupta, Head, Department of Art History, IMFA, Ms. Bindu Sharma, and Ms. Raksha Singh presented their research papers, reflecting scholarly depth and generating meaningful discussions among participants. The session was conducted by Dr. Jasmeet Kour.
The programme concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Priya Dutta, Head, Department of Performing Arts, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, keynote speaker, invited experts, faculty members, organizers, and participants for their valuable contributions in making the seminar a success.
