Facilities

The Department of Zoology has developed following major facilities:

• Central Instrumentation Facility Laboratory is equipped with a good number of sophisticated equipment:

  Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, Auto Analyzer, Thermal Cycler, Digital Spectrophotometer, Ultra Centrifuge GPS, UV Spectrophotometer, Microscopes with Integrated Camera , GEL Doc, Deioniser Apparatus, Deep Freezers (-20℃, -80℃), Stereo binocular and trinocular Microscopes, Field Water Analysis kit, Ion Chromatograph, Double Beam Spectrophotometer, BOD Incubators, High Volume Air Samplers, Ultra Water Purifier, Electrophoresis equipment etc.

• A Computer lab with internet facility for ready access to the students is available in the Department.
• A Seminar Hall having Smart Interactive Board, LCD T.V. Panel and Projection facilities (Overhead and LCD projectors)
• Research Laboratories: Six research Laboratories as per the specializations available in the Department are:

  Aquatic Wet Lab, Molecular Biology Lab, Entomology Lab, Fisheries Lab, Animal Cytogenetics Lab, Toxicology Lab.

• Departmental library has total of 3434 books; 2550 titles of books and 445 issues of Journals. Facility for printing and Xeroxing is also available for the students.
• A Zoological Park housing local faunal diversity for display and conservation purposes.
• Zoological Museum exhibiting the collection of all the Faunal groups: Invertebrate groups: Protozoa to Echinodermata and Vertebrate groups: Pisces to Mammalia.
