Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu successfully conducted a three days Pre Immersion/ Induction Workshop from 7th to 9th August, 2024 for the students of Masters of Rural Studies in the seminar hall of the department. The objective of the workshop was to familiarize the students with Departmental activities and to explain the importance of immersion programme.
Dr. Pallavi Sachdeva, co-ordinator of the workshop delivered the welcome address. Dr. Jeevan Jyoti, Incharge Director, Department of Lifelong Learning, in her introductory address highlighted the importance of Pre-immersion workshop. The first day of the workshop began with the address by Dr. Sandeep Singh who explained about changing Rural Realities and MRS which was followed by Mr. Naniesh Tickoo, Director, Strategic Partnerships Reach to Teach, One horizon centre, Gurgaon. He oriented the students about the Communication and IT Skills. He also explained Social Stripping in his post lunch session. Next speaker of the day was Dr. Vivek Sharma, Associate professor, DLL, who deliberated on Development Values.
The second day of the workshop began with the session of resource person, Mr. Naniesh Tickoo who oriented the students about the communication skills through blindfold exercises. Dr. Priyanka Sharma was the next speaker, who apprised the students about preparing for field visits. Mr. Naniesh Tickoo in his second session oriented the students about numbers & analysis: Logic/Reasoning. The next speaker Prof. Kavita Suri apprised the students about the importance of reading books, articles, current affairs and newspapers. Last speaker of the second day was Dr. Pallavi Sachdeva who oriented the students about village livelihood frameworks.
The third day started with the session on How to prepare for systemic reforms in development sector by Mr. Naniesh Tickoo. He also oriented the students on multicultural ethos and values. The last joint session of the workshop was taken by all the faculty members of DLL who explained the importance of daily diary reflection i.e. reading, translation, precises, audio video clip etc.
Others present on the occasion were faculty members of the DLL, including Prof. Kavita Suri, Dr. Priyanka Sharma Dr. Vivek Sharma, Dr. Pallavi Sachdeva, Dr. Sandeep Singh, and students who attended and participated in the workshop.
