In line with its commitment to community service, the Department of Commerce at the University of Jammu visited Government Middle School Kotli Birpur today as part of its extension and outreach activities. The visit was marked by the distribution of scholarships to outstanding students, along with stationery items and refreshments provided to all students to encourage their continued participation in education. The event featured not only the distribution of resources but also counseling sessions aimed at offering support to both students and teachers. The faculty of the Department of Commerce provided personalized counseling to address academic and emotional needs.
Professor Gurjeet Kaur, Head of the Department of Commerce, spoke to the students and teachers, emphasising the significance of education and motivating them to pursue their goals with dedication. She assured the school of the department’s ongoing support and commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and resources for the community. Headmistress Minakshi Gupta of Government Middle School Kotli, Birpur extended her gratitude to the Department of Commerce for their unwavering support. She highlighted the positive impact of the event on both students and staff, noting the encouragement and motivation it has provided. Those who were present on the occasion included Professor Gurjeet Kaur, Dr. Tarsem Lal, Dr. Sunil Kumar, Minakshi Gupta, Gauri Pathania, Chander Mohan Bhagat, Monika, and other teachers of the school. This event underscores the University of Jammu’s dedication to social responsibility and its ongoing efforts to contribute positively to the local community. The outreach effort was coordinated by Dr. Tarsem Lal, Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Extension and Outreach Programme at the Department of Commerce, University of Jammu.
