A collection of Punjabi short stories titled ‘Do Ghatt Teraan Kahaniyan’, written by Jang S. Verman, a senior artist, journalist and writer was released in a function organized by Department of Punjabi, University of Jammu in collaboration with Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu today at the Seminar Hall of the Department of Punjabi, University of Jammu. S. Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik, a renowned Punjabi poet, writer, playwright, was the chief guest on this occasion whereas Dr. Baljit Singh Raina, President Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu, & a renowned writer, playwright, poet, film maker, and director TV Serials will preside over the function. Prof. Sucheta Pathania HoD Punjabi and Jang S. Verman were present in the presidium. The function was attended by a large number of intellectuals, writes, faculty members and scholars of the department. Prof. Sucheta Pathania HoD Punjabi extended the formal welcome address to the dignitaries and guests. She appreciated that writers are adding to the cultural treasure of literature of various languages of the region. Two papers on the book released were presented by senior fiction writer Surinder Neer and Ph. D scholar Amanpreet Kour, highlighting various aspects of stories included in the book. In his presidential address Dr. Baljit Singh Raina appreciated the role of Punjabi Deptt. of the University of Jammu in prom oting Punjabi literary activities at university by incorporating various local organizations. He also expressed his views on the role and contribution of Jang S. Verman in the field of literature and promotion of culture in the region. Speaking on this occasion, Sh. Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik said that Jang S. Verman is a versatile personality who is working as artist, writer, cultural journalist, academician, and art director of Hindi Feature Film. He added that he is working voluntarily and with dedication to promote all aspects of art & culture. He appreciated the Deptt. for promoting the research work of the local and state’s intellectuals, writers and such other contributors. Jang S. Verman, Senior Punjabi Ghazal writer Ajit Singh Mastana, Harjit Singh Uppal, President Punjabi Sahitik Sabha, R S Pura and Popinder Singh Paras, Editor Sheeraza Punjabi also expressed their views on this occasion. Punjabi Writers Surinder Neer, Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik, Ajit Singh Mastana, Amanpreet Kour, Dr. Gurpreet Kour, Dr. Baljit Raina and Popinder Singh Paras were felicitated on this occasion. Dr. Harjinder Singh and Dr. Pritam Singh, faculty members conducted the proceedings of the programme and vote of thanks, respectively
