JU organises Health Camp for Anaemia Screening under Seva Parv 2025

Jammu, Sept 22: As part of Seva Parv 2025, the Gandhian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Jammu in collaboration with the Health Centre, JU, organized a Health Camp for Anaemia Screening on Monday at the University Campus.

The camp was inaugurated by Shri Shantmanu, IAS, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Higher Education Department, J&K UT, as the Chief Guest. The programme was also attended by Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof. J. P. Singh Joorel, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, Dean Research Studies, Prof Yashpal Sharma, Convenor Health Centre, senior officials, faculty members, students, and staff.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Shantmanu emphasized the need to integrate health and education, noting, “Universities are not just centres of learning but also spaces that shape the well-being of society. Preventive healthcare, especially in tackling issues like anaemia, is essential for our youth who will lead the future.” He appreciated the University’s efforts in taking up such initiatives under Seva Parv and urged students to adopt healthy lifestyle practices.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, underlined the institution’s dual focus on academic excellence and community health. He said, “At the University of Jammu, we believe education is incomplete without good health. This camp is a step towards raising awareness, especially among young women, about the need for regular check-ups and preventive care.”

The health camp witnessed active participation from female students and employees who underwent anaemia screening. A team of doctors from the Directorate of Health Services, Jammu, conducted the check-ups and also provided free medicines to those in need. The event happened under the overall supervision of Dr Neeraj Sharma, Registrar, University of Jammu. He reaffirms the University’s continuing commitment to building a healthier and more aware campus community, with a special focus on creating an anaemia-free environment.
