Cradled in the lap of mountains at the foothills of auspicious Trikuta, besides the river Tawi at an altitude of 1030 ft. is Jammu. This 'city of temples' has many places...
In continuation of the activities commemorating Samvidhan Divas 2024, the Law School organized a range of events today, including a Preamble reading of the Indian Constitution and a research-based activity focusing on the intersection of constitutional law and administrative law.
The Preamble reading activity was attended by faculty members, students, and non-teaching staff, all of whom reaffirmed their commitment to the noble ideals and values enshrined in the Constitution. Through this exercise, participants reiterated their dedication to upholding constitutional principles in their daily lives. Dr. Seema Rohmetra, Director, The Law School, spoke on the occasion, emphasizing the significance of the Preamble as a key to open the minds of the framers of the Indian Constitution and a guide to understanding the nation's foundational values.
The research activity involved senior-semester students exploring the relationship between constitutional law and administrative law. The students highlighted the constitutional framework within which administrative agencies function. They also presented findings on the relevance of the "due process of law" and the principles of natural justice in administrative actions. As part of this, the students discussed their first-hand interactions with the Office of the Dean Students Welfare, University of Jammu, and used these experiences to deepen their understanding of how constitutional principles are applied in administrative practices.
This combination of reflective and research-based activities allowed participants to engage with the Constitution's core values while also gaining insights into the practical workings of law and administration.
