A one day National seminar on “Contribution of Rasa Javedani in the development of Urdu and Kashmiri Language and literature” was organized today by the Department of Urdu, University of Jammu and Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and Rasa Javedani Memorial Literary Society jointly in Prof. Gian Chand Jain seminar hall of the department of Urdu, University of Jammu.
The seminar was presided over by noted Punjabi and Urdu writer Jb Khalid Hussain while Dr Shehnawaz Qadri , Jb Brij Nath Betab, Shamim Choudhary, Research Scholar University of Chandigarh and Zubeda Choudhary Research Scholar University of Delhi were the Resource persons of the seminar.
In his presidential address Jb Khalid Hussain spoke in detail on the life and Urdu Poetry of Rasa Javedani describing him as an exceptional Urdu poet whose poetry gave a message of love , Brotherhood and Communal Harmony. HE emphasized the relevance of Javedani's poetry in contemporary society.
Dr Shehnawaz Qadri highlighted the contribution of Rasa Javedani to Urdu literature. Describing him as a towering Urdu poet who projected the realities of life and promoted national integration and communal harmony through his work. Giving details about his initial years, Dr. Qadri further informed that Javedani bagan writing Urdu poetry at a very tender age and quickly gained fame across the subcontinent for his exceptional poetry. Later his Urdu poetry was liked by Hafiz Jalandhari, Jigar Muradabadi, Pandit Data Terya Kafi and other towering poets of the sub-continent. Dr. Qadri said that one of the Javedanis' marvelous Nazam in Urdu has described Urdu language as the pride of India. She further informed that Rasa Javedani was a man having a secular bent of mind, who in Urdu poetry on the one hand highlighted the problems of society and on the other hand also presented some romantic Ghazals. Some Ghazals of the Rasa Javedani are still famous among the masses and are quoted in various cultural programs by the scholars of Urdu language.
While highlighting the contribution of Rasa Javedani in the field of Kashmiri Literature, Brij Nath Betab described him as the second most important poet after Rasool Mir whose romantic poetry is liked by one and all in the Kashmiri speaking belt of Jammu Division and as well as in Kashmir. The poetry of Rasa Javedani has been sung by the famous singers of Jammu and Kashmir like Ghulam Nabi Doolwal, Ghulam Ahmed Sufi, Raj Begum, Kailash Mehra, Shameema Dev and other top singers of Kashmiri because of which Rasa Javedani has become the household name in Kashmir. Jb Brij Nath Betab further informed that Rasa Javedani has written Ghazals in Kashmiri for the first time keeping in view the form of the Ghazals along with a marvelous poetry on the beauty of Bhaderwah. According to Mohd Yousif Taing, Rasa Javedani is the top Most Kashmiri singer of the 20th Century. He further said that the towering writers of Kashmiri like Motil Lal, Hamdi Kashmiri, Ameen Kamil, Prof. Pushp, Prof. K.N. Pandita and many others have highlighted the qualities of Kashmiri poetry of Rasa Javedani in their Research Papers. The Sheraza, a monthly Research Journals of the Cultural Academy of Art , Culture and Languages has also published a special number on the life and poetry of Rasa Javedani. Prof. M.A Wani too presented a paper on the unpublished work of Rasa Javedani.
Earlier Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik , HDO Urdu in his welcome address spoke on the life and works of the Rasa Javedani. He also elaborated on Javedani's influential role in the development of both Urdu and Kashmiri languages.
Later a Rasa Javedani Memorial Literary Award was also presented to Mr. Bharat Singh, Secretary Academy of Art, culture and languages Jammu and Kashmir in recognition of his contributions to the Art and Culture in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
A musical event was also organized on the occasion in which reputed singers like Deepali Watal and Ravi Thakur entertained the audience by singing the famous Ghazals of Rasa Javedani. The cultural Program was liked by one and all. The proceedings of the program were conducted by Dr Abdul Rashid Manhas , Asstt. Professor of the department of Urdu, University of Jammu while vote of thanks was presented by Dr Shehnawaz Choudhary , Cultural Officer ,Academy of Art, culture and languages Jammu and Kashmir. Prominent among those present on the occasion included Prof. Mohd Reyaz Ahmad, Dr Chaman lal, Dr Farhat Shamim, Dr.Abdul Qayoom, Dr.Parshotam Paul Singhm, Dr.Javaid Ahmed, Dr.Ajaz Ahmed, Prof. Khursheed Kazmi , Dally Tickoo, Dr.T.R.Raina , Mashood Ahmed and others.
