Interactive Sessions with Industry Experts organised at JU

The Department of Journalism and Media Studies,  University of Jammu today organized a series of insightful interactive sessions featuring prominent industry experts. 

The event aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world journalistic practices, offering students invaluable insights into the evolving field of journalism.

3715Brijesh Singh, the Resident Editor of Amar Ujala newspaper, interacted with an the students about political journalism.Singh shared his extensive experience covering political events and figures, emphasizing the importance of accuracy, integrity, and the critical role journalists play in shaping public opinion and holding power to account.

He also shared the significance of analysis for political journalist.

Earlier, Tejinder Singh Sodhi, the Editorial Head of News 18 JKLH, Jammu talked about the changing landscape of journalism. Sodhi highlighted the rising popularity of digital media and its impact on traditional news platforms. He discussed how digital transformation is reshaping news consumption habits and the ways journalists must adapt to these changes to stay relevant and effective in their roles.

During the course of the sessions, the students also shared their research work with the experts.

Students and faculty members actively participated in the sessions, posing questions and engaging in lively discussions with the experts. 

The event was aimed at  providing students with practical knowledge and firsthand exposure to industry trends and challenges.

Prof Garima Gupta, Head of the Department, expressed her gratitude to the speakers and emphasized the importance of such interactions in enhancing the educational experience of journalism students. "These sessions are crucial for our students to understand the dynamic nature of journalism and to prepare them for successful careers in the industry," she said.

The event was also attended by Prof Shyam Narayan Lal, Coordinator Journalism Department, Prof Dushyant Kumar Rai, Dr Pardeep Singh Bali, Dr Ravia Gupta and Kumerjit Chajgotra faculty members.
