Kathua Campus (JU) organized Expert Lecture on "The Role of Technology in Fitness and Wellness"

Department of Computer Science and IT, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu organized an expert talk on "The Role of Technology in Fitness and Wellness" under the Expert Lecture Series. The lecture aimed to shed light on the transformative impact of technology in promoting healthier lifestyles. The resource person was Prof. (Dr.) Ming-Kai Chin, Founder and President of The Foundation for Global Community Health (GCH). He is also Co-Founder and Former President of Asian Council of Exercise and Sports Science (ACESS). The eminent speaker has also received the First Presidential Award from BRICSCESS. The speaker delved into various aspects of how technology is revolutionizing fitness and wellness practices. The lecture concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where attendees had the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers and delve deeper into specific topics. The participants left the event feeling inspired and equipped with practical knowledge to incorporate technology into their fitness and wellness journeys.

The resource person explored the intersection of technology and wellness and gained insights into leveraging modern advancements for better health outcomes. He discussed the emergence of wearable fitness devices, mobile applications for tracking health metrics, virtual fitness classes, and the integration of artificial intelligence in personalized wellness plans. Prof. Chin also highlighted the importance of data-driven approaches in optimizing workout routines, monitoring progress, and promoting accountability in achieving fitness goals. He further explored and explained about an innovative program “Brain Breaks”, under which they are covering various schools all over the world. This new program has changed the concept of Physical Education and is influencing and encouraging every young and old individual to work on their health. He also talked about various technological tools and applications, including fitness trackers, smartwatches, virtual reality (VR) fitness programs, and telemedicine platforms that are reshaping the way people engage with their fitness goals and wellness routines.

Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Rector, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, in his message eulogized the resource person for highlighting the transformative power of technology in promoting healthier lifestyles. He also emphasized the significance of embracing technological innovations to enhance the overall well-being of individuals in today's fast-paced world. He further stressed that in the present digital age, technology has become an indispensable tool for empowering individuals to take control of their health and lead healthier lifestyles. Prof. Jasrotia also added that the event provided valuable insights and practical solutions for incorporating technology into everyday wellness practices.

He emphasized how wearable devices, mobile applications, and digital platforms are empowering individuals to track their physical activity, monitor vital signs, and make informed decisions about their health. He further stressed that the Kathua campus looks forward to continuing its commitment to promoting health and well-being through innovative initiatives and educational opportunities.
