The Department of Mathematics, University of Jammu, Jammu on the ‘National Mathematics Day cum One Day National Symposium’ with renowned mathematicians across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and from other parts of the country participated and enlightened the budding mathematicians both on the subject as well as the life and achievements of Srinivasan Ramanujan.
Various renowned mathematicians drawn from different universities, including Prof. R. K. Sharma (IIT Delhi), Prof. Jatinder Singh (HOD, Department of Mathematics, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar), Prof. S. D. Sharma (Former Head, Department of Mathematics, University of Jammu and Central University of Jammu), Prof. Rahul Gupta (Dean, Mathematical Sciences and Registrar, University of Jammu), etc., graced the occasion as experts and threw light on the achievements of Srinivasan Ramanujan with their inspiring, motivational and fruitful thought-provoking addresses. The programme consisted of two sessions where lectures were delivered by Prof. R. K. Sharma and Prof. Jatinder Singh in the first as well as in the second session followed by a series of presentations given by the students as well as the Research Scholars.
The HOD, Prof. Romesh Kumar, Department of Mathematics, University of Jammu lauded the efforts of all the participants and research scholars as well as the joint efforts of Dr. Shallu Sharma and Dr. Sahil Billawria, Assistant Professors, Department of Mathematics in bringing the event to fruition.
