International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR & HRM), University of Jammu organized Session on “International Business & Opportunities: Lessons from 2nd Generation Entrepreneur/s for the students of MBA (International Business) and PGDCCM with an aim to acquaint students with the underlying opportunities of entrepreneurship specifically related to import and export of commodities through e-commerce.
Speaking on the occasion Ms. Suvidha Jain, Founder and Brand Manager, Ambrosia Nuts Pvt. Ltd interacted with the students about the increased utilization of smartphones, easier access to the internet, and the growing offerings of e-Commerce stores, and the subsequent big shift in the buying preference of people through digital spaces have compounded the ability of e-commerce to impact sales and marketing efforts especially for young entrepreneurs who are at the nascent stage of product/commodity development and launch.
She emphasized on the importance of Web-based sales for international destinations and evidenced the same with the e-commerce statistics provided by Mc Kinsey and other consultancy firms. Her deliberations centered upon the shift that startups are witnessing in terms of importance of corporate top line versus bottom line in terms of profit churning and sustainability in long run and suggested the essentials/prerequisites for achieving that by: Search Engine Listing and Commodity/product fit, Getting listed in major search engines that specifically cater to startups’’ business model, Networking, Data Churning, Logistics and Supply Chain Management and Customer Acquisition Cost Management.
Professor Hardeep Chahal, Director, ICccR & HRM, University of Jammu, conveyed immense satisfaction with the overall conduct of session that shed light upon the multiple modes of startup creation and resultant success via using e-commerce platforms. She emphasized that the resource person being 2nd generation entrepreneur catered to the inhibitions and anxieties running among students with regard to entrepreneurship and start up creation specifically in Jammu region. She assured students that such like handholding from existing entrepreneurs shall be provided constantly so that students can ideate, create and market their offerings in a structured and sustainable manner.
It is pertinent to mention that session ended with the offering of Summer Internship Projects/ Live Corporate Projects for the students in the International Business Division of Ambrosia Nuts Pvt. Ltd.
The session was conceived and coordinated by Dr. Isha Sharma, Faculty, ICccR and HRM, University of Jammu and other faculty members of the department were present for the session.
