Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Jammu and Green Campus Task Force (GCTF-JU) in association with J&K Pollution Control Committee (JKPCC) organized two days “Save Tawi Campaign” on the banks of River Tawi. More than 100 volunteers including students, research scholars, faculty members and others participated in the event in order to sensitize the public and a large number of devotees visiting the river during the last two days of the Navratri festival for immersion of Khetri/Sakh along with other religious materials into the river. The volunteers interacted with the public to make them aware of the harmful effects of mass bathing and immersion of the religious materials into the river and also discussed with them the importance of conservation of River Tawi which is the lifeline of Jammu city.
