Employment Information cum Advisory Bureau, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu organized a career counselling workshop on “Entrepreneurship development and career opportunities after graduation” for the students of Govt. Degree College, Kunjwani here today. The workshop aligns with the vision of the Vice chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof. Umesh Rai, to enhance the employability skills of the youth and to focus on developing essential skills.
The workshop was jointly inaugurated by Dr. Priyanka Sharma, Director, Department of Lifelong learning, University of Jammu and principal of the college Dr. Manisha Kohli. Dr. Manisha in her inaugural address said that career counselling can help individuals make informed decisions about their careers which lead to greater satisfaction and success in life. She further added that Entrepreneurship development programmes help to create employment opportunities, which can increase the standard of living. She also appreciated the efforts of Department of Lifelong Learning to organise such workshops for their students.
Dr. Priyanka, Director, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu in her address said that Entrepreneurship Development Programmes stimulate economic growth by empowering individuals to start their own businesses, which in turn generates employment opportunities. She further added that career counseling can help the students explore different career options and learn about job requirements.
The special resource persons were Dr. Zahid Ali Dar, Project manager, JKEDI and Dr. Harleen Kour, Sr. Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, University of Jammu.
Dr. Zahid, in his presentation, apprised the students about Entrepreneurship growth and Competitiveness. He also gave detailed information on start ups and various schemes available. Dr. Harleen, in her presentation, explained, in detail, the importance of career counselling and new and emerging careers after graduation.
Dr. Rewa Khajuria, Counsellor, EIAB, DLL, JU coordinated the workshop. Around 91 students attended it. Dr. Arti Gupta was the Convenor, Career Counselling Cell of the college. Dr. Neeru conducted the proceedings of the programme and Dr. Bhawna Koul presented the formal vote of thanks.
