One - Week Capacity Building Programme on “Innovative Pedagogical Approaches under NEP – 2020" concludes at ICccR & HRM, University of Jammu

One – week Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on “Innovative Pedagogical Approaches under National Education Policy – 2020" from June 3-7, 2024 " in online mode concludes at International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR & HRM), University of Jammu, Jammu.

The CBP aimed to impart pedagogy-related training and skill building of the participants in the core areas of Case Teaching, Case Writing, Artificial Intelligence (AI)/ Machine Learning (ML), Gamification, and use of ICT and Generative AI in teaching. Led by experts in these fields, the CBP provided a comprehensive exploration of theoretical frameworks, practical case studies, and hands-on exercises to empower educators in integrating these technologies into their teaching practices effectively. The CBP equipped the participants with the knowledge, tools, and strategies necessary to harness the power of these technologies in educational settings through a series of interactive workshops, role plays, lectures, and hands-on sessions.

Prof. Rajat Sharma, Associate Professor of Marketing at Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad; Prof. Saravana Jaikumar , Associate Professor of Marketing at IIM Calcutta and Prof. K. Srinivas, Head of ICT & Project Management Unit of National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi,  were the resource persons for this one week  programme.

Prof. Hardeep Chahal, Director, ICccR and HRM, University of Jammu, expressed satisfaction over the overall conduct of CBP and assured the attendees that such like CBP shall be organized in continuum, so that the academia can learn, unlearn and relearn new pedagogical innovations and methodologies. She also expressed sincere gratitude to Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Umesh Rai, and CBP Patron for supporting the idea of organising the CBP in alignment with NEP-2020 agenda and goals.

Prof. Rajat Sharma from IIM Ahemdabad was the resource person for Day 1 and Day 2 of the CBP. Speaking upon some real life cases, Prof Rajat provided a firsthand experience of case study administration. He also equipped participants regarding how to handle the case discussion sessions and enhance its effectiveness. The sessions also focused on preparing case teaching plan and note so that teachers and learners can make the best out of this teaching methodology.

Prof. Saravana Jai Kumar from IIM Calcutta was the resource person for Day 3 and Day 4 of the CBP. Across these two days of CBP, Prof. Saravana deliberated upon the transformative potentials of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI, Machine Learning (ML), and Gamification in Education. The resource person equipped the participants with the knowledge, tools, and strategies necessary to harness the power of these technologies in educational settings. The session was conducted through a series of interactive workshops, lectures, hands-on sessions and sample activities.

On the Day 5, Prof. K. Srinivas from NIEPA Delhi was the resource person. In the first session Prof. Srinivas discussed about the various ICT skills and competencies for interactive and experiential learning. Renowned for his expertise in e-learning, blended learning, MOOCs,and ICT-enabled pedagogy, he provided participants with valuable insights, practical skills, and actionable strategies to leverage ICT effectively in educational settings. He also discussed about ways to explore generative AI in teaching and learning under NEP-2020.

Over 30 participants from University of Delhi, Institute of Management Studies & Research Mumbai, University of Lucknow, University of Jammu, Cluster University of Jammu,  SKUAST Main Campus Jammu and different colleges across the UT of Jammu & Kashmir etc. attended the programme.

Dr. Isha Sharma and Dr. Swati Sharma, Faculty, ICccR & HRM, University of Jammu were the coordinators of the CBP. The CBP was co-coordinated by Dr. Neha Gupta, Dr. Bhanu Pratap Singh, Dr. Shivani Rana and Dr. Parul Mahajan, faculty members at ICccR & HRM, University of Jammu.
