Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated via live streaming the Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Career Hub of University of Jammu from SKICC, Srinagar, which was witnessed by the students, scholars, faculty members, Deans, Directors in a jam packed, state of the art, General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu, Jammu. Earlier at Vijaypur, Prime Minister also inaugurated University Engineering Institute & Technology, a constituent college of University of Jammu at Janglote in Kathua Campus and a JU affiliated College at Padar, Kishtwar District.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu said that the Universities generally known for teaching and research, should now make a paradigm shift and also include the component of entrepreneurship and employability so that the students and scholars alter their mindset from employment seekers to employment creators. Prof Dhar said that Entrepreneurship and Employability Hub is being developed in the University of Jammu with a focus on promotion of Entrepreneurship and Skill development of the youth to enhance their employability. Prof Dhar further said that that University has established three Centres that include Business Incubation & Innovation Centre, Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Centre and Industry-University Interface Centre and all these centres have already started functioning and are conducting various activities. Vice-Chancellor further said that the University is actively pursuing to collaborate with top Universities of USA, which includes University of California, Berkley, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Drexel University, Philadelphia, Northeastern University, Boston and University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida for bringing best global practices to the University of Jammu. Prof Dhar called upon the students that each of them is a potential entrepreneur and can make valuable contribution in generating Startup movement in the State.
It is again reiterated that the A+ University of Jammu, after successful completion of RUSA phase 1, has been selected for component 4 i.e. Enhancing Quality and Excellence in select State Universities under RUSA phase 2.0 by the MHRD, Govt. of India. It is worth mentioning that under this component University of Jammu is getting 100 crores and out of these 15 crores are earmarked with special focus on Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Career Hub. Earlier, Prof Naresh Padha, Coordinator, RUSA welcomed the guests. Dr. Meenakshi KIlam, Registrar, University of Jammu presented formal vote of thanks. The programme was conducted by Prof Alka Sharma, Director, TBS. The state of the art IT infrastructure to ensure live streaming of the programme in the GZSA was coordinated by Sh Guneet S Sudan, Asst Director, IT.
