Science Club and Music Club, Utsaah, University of Jammu Inspire Youth for Nasha Mukt Bharat

An Awareness-cum-activity program on Nasha Mukt Bharat was conducted by Utsaah-The clubs where Science Club and Music Club, came together to help youth to understand about addiction and create awareness in society regarding substance abuse.

The special highlights of the program were recitation and singing by students of various departments Dogri, Journalism, The Law School and DSRS, University of Jammu.  Another main attraction was slogan writing about Nasha Mukti and poster making, which was enthusiastically participated by students of Zoology, The Law School, Design Your Degree, Geography departments, University of Jammu.

Prof. Prakash C. Antahal, Chairperson, Utsaah, interacted with the participants for poster making and slogan writing while they share the thoughts and displayed messages in the posters. His warm words of encouragement motivated the participants. Dr Neeraj Sharma, Coordinator, Music Club, enthusiastically supported the events and arrangements.

During the event, Dr Chinmoyee Maharana, Coordinator, Science gave a brief lecture about the brain reward pathway in a simplified way so that all the stakeholders could understand how the brain is hacked in addiction. She encouraged the youth to channelise their energies towards more creative and self-development endeavours that can help come out of substance abuse.

Prof. Parmil Kumar, Coordinator, Nature and Wildlife Club; Prof. Sadaf Shah, Coordinator, Literary Club; Dr Amit Gupta, Associate Professor, Dept. of Zoology; Ms Mansi Mattoo, Media Officer; Mr Sumeet, Drama Instructor, University of Jammu were the eminent present during the ongoing event. Many students took part and participated in this program that culminated with a display of the creative work done by them. This program aimed at spreading awareness and to bring a sense of responsibility among youth and in community building for a Nasha Mukt Bharat contributing towards a Viksit Bharat.
