JU joins Live Streaming of ‘India’s Techade: Chips for Viksit Bharat’ under India Semiconductor Mission and hosts Informational Session

In a groundbreaking move towards fostering innovation and technological self-reliance, University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Kathua Campus, University of Jammu joined the live streaming of ‘India’s Techade: Chips for Viksit Bharat’ under India Semiconductor Mission, an ambitious initiative by the Government of India and also hosts Informational Session on ‘Semiconductor Revolution: Unlocking India's Potential’. The event aimed to foster awareness and understanding of the pivotal role semiconductors play in modern technology and India's ambition to establish an end-to-end semiconductor ecosystem. It is also aimed to unlock India's vast technological potential and lead towards Viksit Bharat.

During the live streaming, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, elucidated the crucial role of semiconductor technology in driving India's socio-economic development. Prime Minister Modi's insightful address underscored the government's unwavering commitment in fostering innovation, research, and indigenous manufacturing in the semiconductor domain. His comprehensive discourse further accentuated the importance of this burgeoning field in shaping India's future trajectory. His elucidation on the potential applications, challenges, and opportunities inherent in semiconductor technology served as a clarion call to stakeholders across academia, industry, and government to collaborate synergistically towards realizing India's semiconductor ambitions.

The informational session featured a diverse array of activities designed to promote engagement and exploration in semiconductor technology. Nikhil Dogra, student of B.Tech Civil gave a presentation on the topic “Future of Semiconductor in India” and Jatyam Billawria, student of B.Tech CSE gave a comprehensive presentation on topic “Artificial Intelligence and its significance with Semiconductors”. Besides, other students of B.Tech Civil and CSE came together and presented semiconductor based project ideas including “Water Pump Controller Circuit”, “Pulse Generator Circuit”, and “Automatic Switch-off Battery Charger.” All the presentations showcased the latest advancements and potential applications in the field.

Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Rector, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu in his message underscored the significance of the government's initiative in establishing a robust semiconductor ecosystem in India. He emphasized the importance of such endeavors in driving technological innovation, fostering economic growth, and positioning India as a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing and research. He also added that the Semiconductor Revolution informational session served as a testament to the institute's dedication to staying at the forefront of technological advancements and contributing to India's journey towards becoming a global semiconductor powerhouse. He also stressed that through interactive sessions and presentations, students gained valuable insights into the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities in the semiconductor landscape. Prof. Jasrotia further emphasized that by fostering collaboration among academia, industry, and the governments, initiatives like these are paving the way for India to emerge as a global powerhouse in semiconductor technology.

Dr. Sourabh Shastri, I/c Coordinator, UIET, Kathua campus, (JU) emphasized the significance of the government's strategic initiatives in advancing India's semiconductor landscape. He further said that Kathua Campus remains steadfast in its commitment to nurturing talent, fostering innovation, and contributing to India's journey towards becoming a global semiconductor powerhouse. Er. Komal Khadotra, faculty of UIET coordinated the whole program.
