Webinar on ‘CAREER PLANNING & PLACEMENT’ organized at JU

In an attempt to sensitize the placement opportunities, PG Department of Commerce, University of Jammu organized a webinar on “Career Planning & Placement” for the benefit of scholars and students on March 31, 2021. The session was conducted by Dr. Naresh Kumar Sharma, Assistant Professor, Central University of Jammu. In a very interactive and insightful discussion, Dr. Sharma enlightened the participants about the significant aspect of career planning & placement including self-employment/start-ups as well as avenues in the corporate sector. He shared that the Government has launched more than a hundred schemes for starting a new venture/start-ups He also talked about the role of incubation centers in the country. Dr. Sharma highlighted that private and public sectors offer ample opportunities for the graduates as well as postgraduates in consultancy services companies, financial institutions, FMCG companies, telecom companies, pharmaceuticals, tourism, education and health sector. He also cited the examples of companies like BCG, Wipro, Google, Samsung and their recruitment and selection procedure. Furthermore, he stressed that students need to be proactive, conscious, and able to present their strengths, skills and talent to the job providers. Indeed, students with a finance specialization are highly demanded in the corporate sector. He named several leading placement and consultancy organizations supporting the recruiters and job seekers. He acquainted students with designing presentable CVs and also responded to all queries. Finally, he inspired the students to become job creators by attempting to start-up and generate job opportunities in society for mitigating unemployment. Prof. Hardeep Chahal, Head Department of Commerce welcomed the resource person and participants. While lauding the initiative, Prof. Chahal urged the participants to learn, interact and implement the insights of the webinar to prepare and shape their career. Dr. Bodh Raj Sharma, Assistant Professor co-ordinated the event and blessed the students for the glorious and aspirational career. The webinar was attended by more than 50 participants, including the faculty members, research scholars, and students.
