With the objective of creating an innovation and Entrepreneurship ecosystem in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir, the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), University of Jammu, Jammu  in collaboration with Department of Library & Information  Science, University of Jammu   organized  a workshop to build the entrepreneurship skills among students  ,aspiring entrepreneurs and upcoming  youth and strengthening the student Entrepreneurship ecosystem on  23rd Feb 2022 at 2.00 PM on the Theme , “Entrepreneurship Skill, Attitude and Behaviour Development” on Google Meet platform. The main objective of the Workshop was to understand Entrepreneurship Skill and to create awareness about innovative ideas and Start Ups in India. The event was started with the welcome address and introduction of Resource Person by Prof. Susheel Sharma, President IIC, and University of Jammu.  He stressed on the importance of entrepreneurship and envisioned a bright future for those who are interested in taking up entrepreneurship as their career. He further looked forward for having such more events in future also towards integrating literacy and skill development for a New India.

Dr.S.Jayaselvi, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies, Amrita College of Engineering & Technology, Nagerciol, Tamil Nadu, India, was the Resource Person of the Workshop.  The presentation was very comprehensive , informative, insightful  and was based on various aspects of Entrepreneurship Skill, Attitude and Behaviour Development cited with suitable examples .The main aspects on which she deliberated  included What is Entrepreneurship, Difference between employee, entrepreneur and businessman, Innovative ideas, Identifying gap to implement the innovative ideas, Difference between entrepreneur, entrepreneurship and enterprise, Entrepreneurs and Economic Development, Various Start ups in India, What is Knowledge ,  Attitude ,Skill and Soft Skills, Skills needed for entrepreneurs and Risk-Taking Skills, Skills Vs talents, Entrepreneurial Competencies, Entrepreneurship Attitude, and spoke about great words of entrepreneurial thinkers such as “Believing in yourself is the first secret of success”, “Ideas are no one’s monopoly. Think big, think fast, think ahead”, Do the things that others don’t do.”

 

            She further stressed on how practical approaches are to be adopted for the startups using soft skills. Dr. S. Jayaselvi appreciated the efforts of organizers for providing her a platform as a Resource Person for presenting her insights. Dr. Meghna Dhar, I/C Head Department of Library & Information Science and Internship Coordinator, IIC, University of Jammu, was the Moderator of the Workshop and carried on the deliberations of the event and presented vote of thanks. More than 90 participants from all over India participated in the workshop.  The workshop was attended by students, scholars, faculties, staff and other stakeholders from various universities and colleges of India.  All the participants participated in the event with great enthusiasm. E-Certificates were awarded to every participant for their participation in the event.

Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, Jammu lauded the efforts of all the participants for the successful conduct of the workshop. The workshop was conducted with the mutual cooperation and support of   Prof. Arvind   Jasrotia, Registrar, University of Jammu and Prof .Jasbir Singh, Dean Social Sciences, University of Jammu.

The Workshop was organized under the supervision and guidance of Prof. Susheel Sharma, Director IIC, University of Jammu, Jammu. Prof. Susheel Sharma said that such online contests are very helpful to encourage participants to sharpen their skills and update their knowledge about entrepreneurship. Others who were present in the workshop included Faculty Members of IIC team, University of Jammu, Faculty Members, Staff, Research Scholars and Students of Department of Library & Information Science, University of Jammu.
