JU paired with ALAGAPPA University,Tamil Naidu under EK BHARAT SHRESHTHA BHARAT

Under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme of the Government of India University of Jammu has been paired with Alagappa University, Karaikudi, Tamil Naidu. Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme aims to enhance interaction & promote mutual understanding between people of different states/UTs through the concept of state/UT pairing. The states/UTs carry out activities to promote a sustained and structured cultural connect in the areas of language learning, culture, traditions & music, tourism & cuisine, sports and sharing of best practices etc. The idea of a sustained and structured cultural connect between people of different regions was mooted by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during the Rashtriya Ekta Divas held on 31st October, 2015 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

It is to be mentioned here that under the EBSB Scheme different institutions have been paired with others in order to encourage the cultural exchange between two States/UTs. Under this scheme University of Jammu has been paired with Alagappa University, Tamil Naidu. Today a webinar Jammu and Kashmir: Past, present and Way Forward” was organized by Alagappa University, Karaikudi, Tamil Naidu. Prof. Jasbir Singh, Dean Students Welfare was the resource person. The Webinar started with the Presidential address by Prof. N. Rajendran, Vice Chancellor, Alagappa University. Prof Rajendran congratulated Prof. Manoj K. Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu for all his sincere initiatives and efforts to start this chain of events between two Universities. Prof. Rajendran also shared a brief history of Tamil Naidu and its vast culture quoting examples and references from Naradya Purana. Prof Manoj K. Dhar congratulated and appreciated the efforts of Alagappa University, Karaikudi, Tamil Naidu and assured that regular exchange programmes will be conducted during pandemic and in new normal both universities can have more such interactions. The programme was coordinated by Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Co-ordinator, EBSB and vote of thanks was presented by Dr. R. Ramnath, Dy. Co-ordinator, EBSB from Alagppa University, Tamil Nadu.
